Il 13 febbraio la corte ha annullato la precedente decisione di rilascio e ha mandato in prigione Boris Kagarlitsky per cinque anni.

Cari amici!

È una gioia immensa scrivervi finalmente fuori dal carcere, sfruttando le possibilità di una libertà limitata ma reale. Durante quattro mesi e mezzo abbiamo lottato insieme, ognuno a modo suo. In un certo senso per me è stato più facile. Dovevo semplicemente rimanere calmo e aspettare. Ma gli altri, le persone che fermavano appelli, scrivevano articoli, picchettavano, facevano discorsi in pubblico, raccoglievano fondi, hanno dovuto agire senza sapere quale effetto avrebbero le loro azioni. E solamente adesso capiamo che tutto quello non era in vano, abbiamo raggiunto il successo.

Non posso scrivere parole di gratitudine a ciascuno di voi, perché non vi conosco tutti, non sono in contatto con tutti. Ma sono sinceramente e profondamente grato a tutti quelli che hanno partecipato a questa campagna, riconosco e apprezzo il contributo di ciascuno.

Purtroppo, questo successo non è definitivo: insieme al mio incredibile avvocato Sergey Erohov devo combattere altre battaglie in tribunale perché la procura ha presentato appello, e a quanto pare qualcuno nei circoli ufficiali russi non lascia la speranza di rispedirmi in galera. Continueremo a difendere la nostra verità e speriamo ancora nel vostro sostegno e solidarietà.

C'è ancora tanto da fare. Tanti prigionieri politici non solo in Russia ma in tutto il mondo hanno ancora bisogno del nostro aiuto. Tante persone che non sono leader sociali o attivisti famosi sono sottoposte a pressioni e perseguitate. Non basta liberare da carceri una o due persone famose, politici e intellettuali. Il compito principale è cambiare la società. È un gran lavoro che tutti noi facciamo e continueremo a fare, nei limiti del possibile.
